{"id":13,"date":"2026-03-07T11:04:44","date_gmt":"2026-03-07T11:04:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/speylarder.com\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2026-03-07T11:12:01","modified_gmt":"2026-03-07T11:12:01","slug":"our-story","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/speylarder.com\/index.php\/our-story\/","title":{"rendered":"The Spey Larder Story"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shop in the Speyside town of Aberlour now known as the Spey Larder was built in 1864. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It opened as a grocers and general store run by a William Mackintosh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was sold in the 1900&#8217;s to Alex MacIntyre and Sons who also owned a shop in Tomintoul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shop remained as a grocers until the 1970&#8217;s when it was bought by the Aberlour Hotel and repurposed as a museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2002 David and Sheana Catto refurbished the property and opened the Spey Larder in autumn of 2003, retaining much of the original character of the building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Smith Family took on the shop from Mr and Mrs Catto in May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/speylarder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB_IMG_1771600465697-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42\" srcset=\"https:\/\/speylarder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB_IMG_1771600465697-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/speylarder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB_IMG_1771600465697-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/speylarder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB_IMG_1771600465697-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/speylarder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB_IMG_1771600465697-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/speylarder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/FB_IMG_1771600465697.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The shop in the Speyside town of Aberlour now known as the Spey Larder was built in 1864.
