The Spey Larder Story

The shop in the Speyside town of Aberlour now known as the Spey Larder was built in 1864.

It opened as a grocers and general store run by a William Mackintosh.

It was sold in the 1900’s to Alex MacIntyre and Sons who also owned a shop in Tomintoul.

The shop remained as a grocers until the 1970’s when it was bought by the Aberlour Hotel and repurposed as a museum.

In 2002 David and Sheana Catto refurbished the property and opened the Spey Larder in autumn of 2003, retaining much of the original character of the building.

The Smith Family took on the shop from Mr and Mrs Catto in May 2022.
